Meet Erik Anderson, DDS
Dr. Erik Anderson is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who grew up surrounded by dentistry — and chose to make it his own. Born in the Chicago area and raised in Michigan, he brings an athletic drive, a family legacy in the profession, and a genuine enthusiasm for the work to every patient he cares for.
Education and Training
With both parents and an older sister in dentistry, the field was a natural part of Dr. Anderson’s upbringing. He pursued his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomolecular Science while also competing as a Division I Varsity soccer player — a testament to the same focus and dedication he brings to his surgical career.
He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, graduating at the top of his class. Dr. Anderson then completed a residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.
Throughout his training, Dr. Anderson gained extensive experience across a broad range of oral and maxillofacial procedures, including complex facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, head and neck cancer, benign pathology, nerve repair, facial reconstruction, TMJ surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, Botox and fillers, outpatient sedation, wisdom tooth removal, complex bone grafting, and dental implant placement.
He developed a particular interest in full arch reconstruction with implants — including zygomatic and pterygoid implants — as well as teeth-in-a-day procedures such as All-on-4. Dr. Anderson also utilizes virtual surgical planning with custom guides and plates to correct jaw deformities, address facial trauma, and support precise implant placement.
Certifications and Credentials
Dr. Anderson holds active certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). He is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS), the New Jersey Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NJSOMS), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA).
Beyond the Office
Outside of his practice, Dr. Anderson enjoys traveling the world, playing soccer, rock climbing, going to the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. He values a well-rounded life and finds energy in pursuing a wide range of interests — both inside and outside the operating room.
